The Family Portraits series lies at the intersection of art history and family lore. My family is Belgian-American.  I digitally collage (no AI) family photos and copyright free images into works of the Flemish masters, in this case Jan Steen's famous Merry Family.

I explore themes of memory, legacy, mental illness, disfunction, substance abuse, grief, and love. Each collage is printed onto cotton fabric, layered, quilted and embellished with handmade lace. Hand and machine quilted.
